HD3D - True colour security hologram
|
|
Embossed holograms have been utilised as overt an covert security optical devices for over 2
decades. However, there is an increasing proliferation of counterfeit embossed holograms and
even poor substitutes comprising of no more than diffractive foil being passed for embossed
holograms. This is due to the nature of embossed holograms and the difficulty in viewing them under
normal lighting conditions. The rainbow effect in these holograms can also be confusing, leading
consumers to assume that any colourful diffractive effect signifies the presence of an embossed
hologram.
|
To counter the proliferation of dot matrix systems and the ease with which embossed holograms of
all types are now being counterfeited worldwide, has taken soundings from the security
industry and the demand has been universal. An overt, easily identifiable true colour security
hologram that can be individualised and mass produced.
The result? HD3D. What makes HD3D technology unique?
True Colour
True Colour as opposed to Full colour is the distinction made in viewing an optical feature that
holds its colour. Unlike embossed holograms which exhibit a rainbow effect, HD3D images
maintain their original colours no matter the viewing angle. This provides a security device that
is easily distinguishable and recognised in comparison with conventional embossed
holograms.
Individualised Coding
HD3D images can be created with unique identifiers such as serial numbers and/or bar codes. This
will allow the identification of individual documents through the HD3D image. The coding systems
used can also be encrypted. Unlike conventional printing or ablation systems, the unique
identifiers are incorporated optically within the HD3D structure during its
creation.

3D Image Switching
Multiple image swtiches can be incorporated into HD3D including both vertical and horizantal
systems.
Easy recognisable overt features
HD3D images can be viewed under fluorescent lighting and maintain their colours under most
lighting conditions and angles of view.

Stereographic Animation
True colour animation effects can be created with a wide variety of subject matter. This
includes digitally generated animation.
Stereogram with overt and covert flick-in channels
Covert Features
Ultraviolet images as well as microtext features (see image below) are readily incorporated into
HD3D.
Microtext within HD3D image
HD3D is designed to be incorporated into a wide variety of security documents. It can
incorporate 2D/3D, 3D or stereographic images or even a combination of all these techniques. HD3D
can be cost effectively mass produced in roll form.
